Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Off-Road Truck Wins Multiple Awards
The Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 is starting off the year strong, earning two best pickup awards. The first is Pickup Truck of the Year by FOUR WHEELER and the second is Best Pickup Truck of 2018 by Cars.com and PickupTrucks.com.
The judges at FOUR WHEELER put the Colorado ZR2 through a weeklong test covering more than 1,000 miles and various terrain, including paved roads, sand, rocky trails, snow and dirt hill climbs. The Colorado ZR2 performed exceptionally with its midsize maneuverability and capable off-road tech.
“Chevrolet has a proven track record of success developing performance variants for Corvette and Camaro,” said Mark Dickens, executive director of Performance Vehicles at GM. “ZR2 takes this philosophy and applies it to Colorado, albeit in a way that makes sense for a truck, enabling customers to rock crawl, desert run and even drive comfortably on paved roads.”
The editors from Cars.com and PickupTrucks.com praised the Colorado ZR2’s “almost perfect combination of passion and technology,” saying it is “not just an interesting example of a new pickup truck, but is quite possibly the most distinctive vehicle that’s come along in years.”
The Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 features a 3 ½ inch wider track and its suspension is lifted two inches. It features protection from rocks underneath, as well as class-exclusive front and rear electronic locking differentials, and available diesel engine and the first off-road application of the Multimatic DSSV damper technology.
